Conservation International has worked alongside Palauan leaders, communities, government agencies, researchers and partners for nearly three decades to support locally led conservation solutions that protect nature, strengthen livelihoods and build resilience for future generations.

Palau has demonstrated global leadership in ocean conservation through initiatives such as the Palau National Marine Sanctuary and the Blue Prosperity Plan. Conservation International supports Palau’s vision through science, technical expertise and partnerships that strengthen ocean governance and sustainable management.
Restoring Marine Ecosystems and Supporting Communities
Palau’s reefs and coastal ecosystems are central to biodiversity, culture, food security and livelihoods. Conservation International supports locally led approaches that restore marine ecosystems while creating benefits for communities such as giant clam community-based aquaculture.
Sustainable Fisheries and Blue Economy
Palau’s ocean resources provide important benefits for communities today and for generations to come. Conservation International supports approaches that strengthen sustainable fisheries, protect biodiversity and create opportunities for communities through a resilient blue economy.
Working with government, industry and partners, CI supports science-based approaches to sustainable fisheries management, including efforts to strengthen tuna fisheries and ensure Palau benefits from its marine resources.
